Respect is the remarkable true story of legendary music star Aretha Franklin’s journey to find her voice in the midst of the turbulent social and political landscape of 1960s America.

As a child, Aretha sings in her father’s church choir. She grows up to become an international musical superstar but, in her personal life, the ‘Queen of Soul’ must endure an abusive marriage and contend with the constraints of the patriarchy.

Academy Award®-winner Jennifer Hudson (Dreamgirls) (who was handpicked by Franklin for the role) headlines an all-star cast that includes Oscar®-winner Forest Whitaker (The Last King of Scotland), Mary J. Blige, Marlon Wayans and four-time Emmy®-nominee Tituss Burgess.
