Looted is the impressive debut film from writer/director Rene van Pannevis. Based on his own experiences as a young man, Pannevis’ adaption of his previous BIFA award-winning short film, Jacked, is an absorbing and authentic portrayal of life in the margins. Reprising his role from the original short, Charley Palmer Rothwell (Dunkirk) offers a compelling performance as Rob, a young man desperately trying to maintain a relationship with his dying father.
After years working at sea, his Dad has finally returned to the Northern, cash-starved port town they call home, but, even in the short time they have left together, Rob struggles to contain the residual childhood resentments he feels towards his absent father. With jobs scarce, Rob has secretly turned to stealing cars to get by, but when his best mate Leo (Thomas Turgoose, This Is England) gets him involved in a bigger, riskier job, everything spirals out of control. Betrayed by his closest friend and shut out from his father, Rob’s last hope is Kasia (Morgane Polanski, Vikings), the one shining light in the dark.
